Description of Xantrex Freedom 817 2080 Power Inverter

ALL-IN-ONE SOLUTION: Functions as a true sine wave inverter with a built-in lithium ion battery charger, and transfer switch. The FREEDOM XC offers more functionality than the FREEDOM X, including a battery charger and a transfer switch. This compact solution is convenient for RV, boat, or heavy duty truck and other specialty applications including an ambulance, fire truck and transit bus. DEAD BATTERY CHARGING: The built-in lithium ion battery charger is designed to charge dead batteries drained to extremely low voltage including 0 Vdc. POWERFUL: Perfect for loads like residential AC fridges and other sensitive applications including induction cooktops and CPAP machines. Common applications are in RVs and onboard boats. Can also be used in Class 8 trucks, work trucks, and other heavy-duty specialty vehicles. Extended power boost - 2X continuous output for 2 seconds or more for motor loads. SMALL & LIGHTWEIGHT: Efficiently designed to be compact and to fit in tight spaces without weighing down the boat, RV or other specialty vehicle where space is valuable. Its small and lightweight size makes it easy to handle and install in every application. ALL-WEATHER: Reliable in climates as cold and wet as Alaska and as hot and dry as California. Full rated output from -4°F to 104°F (-20°C to 40°C) for operation in all climate temperatures. Can work up to 140°F (60°C), but output is derated above 104°C (40°C). Durable hardware is designed to keep the inverter running in the most extreme weather conditions.

Excellent inverter/charger/switch switch

It has two interesting properties - power factor and current distribution. The power factor reduces the AC power consumed by the charger, allowing more power to be available for my AC loads. Power Sharing prioritizes my AC loads by reducing charging current while keeping total input current at 30 amps under my input breaker. amps) and use custom settings for absorption and float voltage (good for my new LiFePo4 batteries).

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Interchangeable

Great quality inverter charger

Installed in my toy dump truck to replace the factory float charger and provide 120VAC for some devices when not connected to shore power. The multi-stage charger charges batteries quickly and automatically switches to float mode after charging. It easily delivers enough inverter power to brew coffee with our Keurig, run a microwave, and run a TV. The display is easy to read and informs you about the status or inputs and the battery. As long as we like it. I expect it will last for many years…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel

No warranty after failure. 1 year

Item was in my camper for a year. I have powerful shore power surge suppression filters and my installation has not changed since the original installation, nor have the electronics. Received a code 12, paid $60 of my own money to send it to service because they don't cover it, and the letter email has a warning that there will be a $250 fee if they don't do anything find wrong. I just found out that there is an overload fault that is not covered under warranty! The only things that plug into…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far

Lid height and access

I carried the device in my suitcase for several weeks. In most cases. Use it as a 12 CFC and set it to 5-10 F most of the time. The unit cools down quickly. Seems durable. Eco works perfectly (3.5 Ah), power consumption checked. However, at an ambient temperature of 80-85 degrees, the temperature will not be reduced to single digits. Lower the temp by 5 amps in standard operation and switch over once you get to your settings. He will keep it there. Access under the table is a dream. Can not be.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

Good replacement for Prosine 2.0 but not perfect

Replaced my 14 year old Prosine 2.0 with this one. Pretty comparable, but the removed features are nowhere near as good as Prosine 2.0. My biggest issue is that after 30 seconds the remote dies, the display goes off and you have to press one of the buttons to wake it up, and then it goes back to the main screen and not the last thing you were looking at. It's one of those great things where 100 functions are controlled with just four buttons. So if you don't have the owner's manual, you're…

Good value for money. does the job. Can be improved.

I installed an XC2000 in my class C last spring (2018). I figured it had to do with my electrical and electronics experience. Also, the inverter was generating an error code that wasn't in the manual when this happened. When I ran the inverter with no power, it worked fine. In each case, the error code was "Call Technical Support". Not very useful on weekends when we workers have time to attack these projects. Looking to the future, I also installed photovoltaic panels and a solar charger and…
