NO HARKEN PULLEYS: Kayaking

I purchased this item 18 months ago and it came with good quality Harken pulleys. However, these cheap plastic "invisible" pulleys were far from Harken in quality. At least disappointed as the description says the display is harken.false. Didn't get in my kayak and will most likely be back. I really like the car in this style. But I would like the sender to send me two Harken pulleys as per the description.

Without Harken Pulleys - Sports

I was very disappointed when I opened the box and saw that the well made Harken Pulleys have been replaced with YakAttacks Pulleys which are much cheaper than the "Stealth" production ! It says Harken in the picture, in the description, and even on the back of the box. If it was $10 cheaper I wouldn't mind, but it's the same price with cheaper hardware. And to make matters worse, I have to cancel tomorrow's fishing trip. I was planning a trip to the Savannah River (2.5 hour drive) and without a

No deflection pulleys Harken: water sports

I was very happy about it. The picture shows a Harken pulley. More streamlined - So I opened up the packaging (wish I could compare the Harken versus the Stealth side-by-side). My observation is that the Stealth Pulley moves well both side to side and vertically with very little effort. I debated how it can be (good enough), but I believe if it doesn't work well with no load, it won't work any better with it.

Once installed this thing seems solid

I'm 100% sure it will last. I was initially a bit skeptical about the plastic pulleys and guides but after actually getting my hands on them they turned out to be of high quality. The deflection pulleys live up to their name "Stealth" and are very quiet. I only put an end to it because the lock nuts fell out of the base plates about 10 times during the assembly attempt. In the end I had to glue them on with super glue. Every time this happened I had to rethread the wire through my kayak and ofโ€ฆ

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • I'm not sure

This is a good pulley system, maybe the best on the market but insanely expensive for a small amount Plastic, cables and a handful of screws. However, be aware that this cord will shrink significantly if it gets wet and then dries in the hot sun. I had to shorten the line and use a thicker rope with a bit more stretch as this system doesn't absorb shock. And that's fine, because it fits snugly into the kayak's body to reduce noise compared to bungee-style carts. The stealth reels wiggle andโ€ฆ

Excellent goods. Does its job well and was easy to install (sort of)

Realizing there was no way for me to use skid plates I wanted to use this as a standard kit. Everything that is included in the standard kit is included in the HD kit. After installation I found a video showing how to attach the baseplates with a rope when there is no physical access to the attachment point. I am very happy with this kit and with my new technique I will be using more secure mounting solutions like this. The braking system works great, the line is strong and the pulleys andโ€ฆ

Can I recommend / The price is a bit high for what you get.

I liked the design idea on this one and it looked like it would be a solid well built anchor wagon but it doesn't really differ from other items I have owned and returned. I'll just use it and be done. Basically it's nothing more than pulleys and a piece of paracord with a few other pieces. At a minimum, this set comes with skid plates and hopefully you'll be able to use those because your anchor carriage is the element on your kayak that will stress it the most. The reason I kept returningโ€ฆ

Great anchor trolley

I know a lot of people are frustrated with replacing Harken reels with YakAttack Stealth reels, but I have Harken stainless steel reels on my old kayak's anchor trolley and there is little difference in performance . If I had to choose, I would say the YakAttack Stealth pulleys are smoother. So I can say that I like this anchor wagon very much. My kayak (Perception Striker 11.5) came with what Perception ridiculously calls an "anchor cart," but it's awful. It is literally made from very poorโ€ฆ
