Video encoding works fine, but don't buy it if .

Video encoding works well but don't buy this if you expect audio through the HDMI input. Support has confirmed that the hardware can only handle PCM audio. This means most video files, MKV, DVD, Blu-ray, Cable, Satellite, etc. will have no sound even if stereo.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models

Good product for streaming via Wowza

Solid product. Works reliably over long periods of time. Decent web interface for settings. Good documentation. The only drawback is that it heats up during continuous use. But heat doesn't seem to affect encoding performance. Used it to stream at a wedding with Wowza. Worked fine with a 1080p HDMI stream from the camera (both video and audio).

Overall a good product if it meets our needs

I originally bought the Z3Stream to stream from an SDI source so wasn't thrilled when I found that it only had an HDMI input . When I was able to convert the SDI stream to HDMI, ZStream worked very well. However, we needed an encoder with direct SDI input, so I had to look elsewhere. To be fair, ZStream was more stable than our current SDI encoder. Overall a good product if it meets our needs.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Expensive

Does not work with most HDMI sources. I have a Mac book and HDMI is not accepted like other devices because this encoder does not connect HDMI HDCP device (most HDMI devices now have HDCP). Tested with regular HDMI from Cino computer without HDCP and video is good at 720p but choppy when using 1080p. It's a good encoder at a low price, but it's not suitable for full-screen multimedia. My device also freezes every few hours so I have to turn it off and on again every time I need to use it. Since

It works quite well for this price range. I mainly use it for live posting to an RTMP server, so my rating is based on that: PROS: - It works as expected, it's been working non-stop for 4 days and I've had no problems - It really detects all signals. : SD, HD, FHD, Interlaced, Progressive. I've never had problems with direct camera input, laptop input or video mixers like Blackmagic or Datavideo. You can use analog audio with HDMI video and analog video with HDMI audio (which is a big plus for…

Z3 Stream is a simple and reliable video and audio encoder that works successfully with all types of video streaming applications that I have tried. The Z3 Stream first attracted me because of its price, which was about half that of other suppliers of similar products. The Z3 Stream also offered slightly better performance (on paper at least) with a maximum resolution of 1080p60, so I decided to give it a try. When I first received the Z3 Stream I appreciated how easy it was to set up. Unlike…

I wanted to like it.

Received this with the intention of streaming live TV to tablets anywhere in the house. My video source is 1080i with HDCP encryption. HDCP is easy to disable with some inexpensive HDMI splitters, so this isn't a problem. The problem was how this device handles 1080i. Even though it recognizes my input signal as 1080i @ 60 Hz (or 59.94 Hz), it only transmits 30 fps no matter how I set the encoding options. "Full" frame rate and "half" frame rate result in 30 fps encoding. This is probably the…
