I gave it to my mother for Christmas and she loves it. After 5 months of combat trials with poultry (ribs), fish (sashimi), vegetables and fruits (including hard shells such as jackfruit and durian). The knives are still sharp. P/s: My mother is a cook and she has been cooking for us every day for 5 months.

Worth buying. I was able to chop/slice onions, tomatoes, lemons, limes, garlic, etc. as thinly as I would like. All types of meat are also easy to prepare. I've had this set for almost a month now. I hand wash them and dry them thoroughly with each use. So far they still look brand new with no stains or tarnishing.

The knives seem to match the description but the base didn't match the set. I had to customize a knife block from a previous set I had which reflects badly on the product or the manufacturer's quality control. Again, the knives turned out to be of good quality so I'll have to wait and see if my opinion improves as I have more experience with them.

Henckels make various styles of cutlery; Chinese, Spanish and German. They're German and about as good as a good home cook could ever need. I have a number of them that I've used daily for the last several decades. Sharpen and sharpen them about every two years; They have to outlive you. I gave them to my daughter (because her husband is too busy to keep his blades sharp). I also added a 7 inch santoku knife as this is my knife and for some reason this set doesn't include it.

I've only had these knives for a few weeks, but so far they've worked very well. They're so sharp they can be dangerous to the unwary, but they're a joy to use on a cutting board. Bought 7 pcs. and then added 2 special blades to match so I can't think of a kitchen task they can't do. I love these knives, they are sharp, easy to use and appear to be of high quality. I've only had them for a month so I can't comment on their durability but I hope they will last a long time with proper care. My only warning to buyers is twofold: 1) The knife block is a piece of crap. It really isn't worth a fraction of the total price you pay for it.
