I installed a 10ft cable in my dorm room. This greatly improved speeds over 5GHz WiFi, as did another, older ethernet cable I had. This cable was one of the cheapest Cat7 Ethernet cables I could find, and the cable's low-profile design made it easy to route across a surface when routed across the room to my router. My speed at my ISP is 500Mbps, but speeds easily jumped over 1Gbps a few times and this cable handled it with ease. In fact, I think the cable is faster than any speed my ISP could offer. Now I can load almost any game in less than 15-20 minutes and haven't had the game crashing or lagging issues I used to have.
