I would give this 4.5 stars because it's almost perfect for intended use. You have to understand that this is not a one stop solution for all your floor cleaning needs. I have a standard carpet cleaner, but I have the same amount of hardwood floors and didn't want to constantly flick my standard vacuum over freshly painted wood for fear of scratching or damaging it. This is where the lightweight Iris vacuum is perfect: it sucks light dust, hair etc. off hardwood floors and cleans baseboards, sofas, upholstered chairs etc. It vacuums in instead of rotating the brush. And I find it much easier, faster and more efficient than Swiffer, which I also use for wooden floors. When you remove the extension, the brush folds and locks into place, perfect for cleaning and vacuuming the top and front of baseboards. , and since mine are white, all the dust and dirt is visible on them. Irish is a quick and easy fix as the brush removes dirt and dust and the suction removes it. It is very light and handy and despite other reviews I don't find it louder than other vacuum cleaners. The suction power is surprisingly strong for such a light motor. I think it's worth the price. My only downside is that the "extra long cable" they talk about is 13 feet, which isn't as long as it sounds. I have to plug it into five different outlets that vacuum my 1,700 square foot house. It's okay, but once when I involuntarily pulled too hard as the cable was stretched to its limit, one of the connector's pins bent under load. So be careful with that.
