My 7 year old beagle was a real roar and bark. That's the loudest dog I've ever had. Whether she was telling us someone was at the door or a car was driving by, she couldn't wait to keep barking. This happened about 5-6 times a day. The howling was so loud the neighbors thought she was in trouble! So I decided to try a collar, but I didn't want something so shocking. This citronella collar was just amazing. I've been using it for a little over a week. For the first two days she barked twice a day. After the first bark, she heard a beep and then spray. After the first two days, she learned to bark softly to keep the device from spraying fog. And yet there is only one or two gentle barks a day. The fog doesn't seem to bother her, it just surprises her. The battery lasts over a week without recharging. I just can't believe that this device can so effectively and quickly solve an annoying problem that has existed for years. Ultimately I think I can only use the collar occasionally to reinforce training or when she is in a new situation.
