I have had other dampers but this one really fits the RE20. I've used them on a transmit arm in a broadcast studio, but I also use this in my home studio, flipped upside down and mounted on a desktop mic stand. It works great, but my only suggestion is that the 309's damper is quite high if you mount it upside down, so you may need a shorter stem on your mic stand if you're seated while using the mic. Otherwise, you have to point the microphone down to speak directly into it. Personal preference but I like the mic level or slightly spiked (for reading monitors or taking notes during a call. It costs extra money to have the right mount for this mic).
