Strong enough for a child to pull themselves up. The wheels move smoothly and the child can regulate the speed well. I'm not sure if it makes sense, but it doesn't accelerate too fast or slow it down. He loves to play with different activities. The pieces fit together nicely, the screw heads are flush with the wood, and they're sanded smooth so don't worry about splinters. I've read some reviews that the shape sorting blocks are small, but they're the perfect size for his hands, and they're not so small that I'm worried he might choke on one.
