A standard bookcase with horizontal shelves can get a little boring if you're a person like me who loves to read and collect. Since books are a great way to start a conversation by displaying them, I really wanted to find a different way to showcase the books I've collected throughout my life. I've seen a few coasters/bookcases that have raised tiers with books exposed at a side angle. It's a very interesting style that's catching on and with this nice version from HerdSnails I've found the best in this price range. to some other approaches using brittle wood. I sometimes bump into things since my apartment is a bit crowded. So I need a shelf that won't break if you bump into it, and the shelf can take a hit when the wood is that thick. The pieces that connect in the middle are held in place by a simple metal brace. It then curves outwards. The instructions that come with it say you have to wall mount it, which is a bit confusing as the product page says it's chargeable. It doesn't matter and I just used a screw and clip to attach it to a nearby shelf. Even when it's appropriate, there's an obvious weakness in the middle. It's weirder than anything because even with the bow I still love this thing, but I'm a little confused as to why they don't just offer a larger clamp to make three main center boards instead of two. Installation takes thirty-five to forty. minutes and can be assembled by one person. Make sure you assemble it on a flat floor surface with plenty of room. I recommend installing exactly as instructed. You can assemble it your way, but if you do it this way you may have to disassemble the parts. I recommend attaching the end of a hex bit to speed up the process. The lower base is small enough that you can place it on an existing shelf. This is the method I chose, placing it underground on a bookshelf for good placement of this new one. . I deliberately chose completely different book sizes to demonstrate this. I love that there is a mini shelf at the top that can hold a couple of pocket sized miniature novels. This top could have had it all, but I decided to turn two classic books into one compact special edition. In summary, I am very satisfied with this bookshelf and recommend it to anyone who loves to read and wants to show it off.
