They can be very bright.
With three adjustment levels, the brightness can be adjusted to your preference. The on/off motion sensor is a great feature, but it keeps turning off when put on shoes due to the movement of the laces. Works well as a headlamp but is too expensive if limited to on-the-go use. You can turn off the motion feature, but that was one of the things that made me buy it in the first place.
