Comfortable / Useful

Coming from Gregory Palisade and found this backpack very comfortable. Since buying it this summer, I've made 2 trips totaling around 50 km. My backpack initially weighed 30 to 35 pounds with water. The things I like are comfortable. The waist belt has never hurt me. Torso adjustments are limited but easy to make (make sure you're the right size). I highly recommend going to REI to find out how to fit a backpack (would buy from them but they didn't have it in stock). The weight felt light. I admit it came from a backpack that after all these years only weighed a whopping 8 pounds! - The waist belt is detachable and attaches to the lid to form the best fanny pack imaginable! -- 2 well patch waistbelt pockets in front - The waistbelt is adjustable to your size with velcro and then you can use the drawstrings. - Access to the inner packaging from the outside. I have never used this function. Large elastic mesh pocket on the back of the backpack. I found this great for stuffing clothes I might need quickly like a raincoat, hat or whatever. no straps on the bottom to place a sleeping pad. Why? So on Trip 1 (see photo) I attached a large pulley to the back of the backpack (worked well). On the 2nd trip I took an inflatable pillow that fit inside. You can't put a water bottle back in your backpack with it. I challenge you to accomplish this feat of skill! It was difficult to get but possible. The elastic strap on the side pocket didn't tighten when I had my bottle of Nalgin in it. I think it was too wide for pocket taste. However, you can also use a strap that clicks and then tightens if you want (a pain because it will be every time you put the bottle in and out), but I didn't lose the bottle. Overall, I'm very happy I bought this pack.
