These grilles are solidly built and well suited to protecting 10 subwoofers, but their appropriateness ends there. They have several design flaws: (as a reference I use a Polk Audio 10") subwoofer - they are very small; when installed, the subwoofer's rubber surround rests against a metal grille. During operation, this distorts the sound and greatly wears out the surrounding sound fast. Their diameter is even 10", which forces them to be installed on the speaker itself and not on the box. . Generally they are solidly built and ready to work immediately after installing a subwoofer that is alcove mounted rather than on a surface or perhaps above an 8" speaker/subwoofer when used with a 10" surface mount subwoofer some editing required.
