Poor accuracy, good for compasses

I have been using compass and map for many years and have tried many different models. It looks attractive but is not accurate enough. I know exactly where the north-south line is in my house. I set this compass up on a flat table on a known north-south line and sometimes it fits and sometimes it doesn't. what do i think After playing around with it a bit, I found that I could place it on a flat table and line it up with a little fiddling. When I then rotate it back and forth there is some friction in the bearing which causes the north-south arrow to become "sticky". That's why I don't get good repeatability. Even the cheapest compasses rarely detect this problem! I tried the direction viewer and it seems to show the same direction as the compass. My problem is that I only see the header. I can't align it with the landmark. I used to build a landmark and read the direction to the landmark at the same time. Another thing I don't like about the course viewer is that the focus slider doesn't work properly. No military class at all. All in all, this is not a compass I would trust my life to!
