You're familiar with these tools then let me tell you about loading this thing. Grease cartridges have a plastic cap on one end and a tab on the other. Remove the end cap with the trigger. Remove the cap from the cartridge. Leave the tongue in place unless you need to lubricate it. Insert the open end and use the cartridge to depress the plunger until the end of the tab is flush with the gun barrel. You can now remove the tab and screw the trigger back in. Make sure the hose or tube you want to use is installed. Now you can pull the trigger to start the flow of lubricant. When you've squeezed it a few times and there was no flow, depress the spring-loaded valve by squeezing the trigger several times until lube comes out. Now you can go.
