The dog was not properly socialized as a puppy and although very smart and obedient, has problems with barking

I recently purchased this unit as a last resort to reduce my dogs excessive barking to control. The dog was not properly socialized as a puppy and although very intelligent and obedient, he does have barking issues. This was highly recommended by the dog trainer. When I received it I saw results immediately. I was told to use the device for correction, not punishment. The command had to be given in a calm tone and not abused. The first two times I did it he growled and kept barking. The next time he barked, I calmly commanded "no." He continued and I repeated it this time using the device after the command. He stopped immediately. Now, four days later, it really isn't necessary. The dog is trained to follow the command, not the tone. The biggest test was when the workers came to my house. I took him to another room. The past will always go on. Not this time, as soon as he started, I used the command while he continued; I used it and it stopped automatically as long as they were around. I don't use it when someone is at my door or outside on my property. I've been told that you want your dog to bark in certain situations. Now he's learning when to bark and when not to. I tried many different devices, none worked. The noise is not dangerous for the dog. I've never used stun collars before. I noticed that the general behavior of the dogs is different. This is an adult dog and that makes him calmer throughout the day. I highly recommend it.
