Review on ๐Ÿš— Bilstein 4600 Series Shock Absorber (Part Number 24-185394) by Robert Robertson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

OK, not great. Small disappointments not expected from a well known brand.

They were no more difficult to install than any rear shock on a 2006 Tundra Double Cab 4.7L V8 4x4. But that still means it was a pain (not Bilstein's fault, but Toyota's). But the trip is not very happy. It feels a little soft and lets the springs spring a little over bumps, even compared to the stock Toyota shocks at 150,000 miles. Although "heavy duty" I suspect they don't mean "hard". But it's decent enough. The case is plastic, not metal, which is another minor disappointment. There are instructions but no visuals, not even for installing washers and rubber rings. So pay attention to the order in which the original peels off so that you can insert the new material in the same way. Another minor disappointment - it would be nice to see the assembly in disassembled form.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
