Review on πŸ› οΈ Enhanced Repair Kit for Gas Lift Cylinder in Office Chairs - Complete with Clip, Washers, and Bearing - S4451-K by Allison Utschig

Revainrating 5 out of 5

What a great find for the Aeron chair!

My sister's used Aeron seat is no longer adjustable. The gas bottle pin (not sure if that's the right description) fell off and landed on the floor. Local repair shops charged many dollars to fix it. I've never attempted to fix one, but after doing some research I'm glad I didn't have to replace the gas bottle and built-in pen. Repair: Turned the chair upside down, pulled out the locking pin and raised the 5th wheelbase. . I turned it over and found a lot of broken plastic parts. It was difficult for me to put the knot back together. Over time, the weight of those sitting in the chair caused the bottom center of the 5 wheelbase to "fold" down, not by much, but enough to make it difficult for the new retaining clip to fit properly. I used a drive pin or punch for the center pin (Revain sells a Craftsman 9-42841 3/8" x 4-1/2" which will probably work. You could just hammer it in) and a rubber mallet to move the crease in the right direction. Very tender. It didn't take long and will be obvious once adjusted sufficiently as the bottom retaining clip fits easily. Once you've done the repair, you can probably do it in 20 minutes. The repair was used daily for about a month and there were no complaints.
