Hardware problems prevented me from starting this monitor

A day after delivery I have yet to successfully connect this promising monitor to my HP desktop due to hardware issues. (If I ever plug it in, I'll update this review.) When trying to connect the 4 required Phillips head screws to connect the base to the screen, I found that the 4 holes in the screen were misaligned. , so that only 3 of the screws could be screwed in and one got stuck in the air and had to be abandoned; So this is a 3 bolt connection, not perfect. After first trying to connect via HDMI I got no signal which was very disappointing and then I read HP's recommendation not to use HDMI as you would have to put a lot of effort into getting sound. Then I tried DVI but found that the cable provided by ViewSonic doesn't work with my desktop computer. Obviously it's a mini display port on one end and a display port on the other, but my HP has a DVI-I connector, not a display port, so you have to think like an electrical engineer (that was actually my dad, but I'm definitely not ), I ordered a Mini Display to DVI Port Adapter online from ViewSonic Tech Support for $17.48 including shipping. He'll be here in a few days. If this doesn't get this monitor to finally work, I'll have to send it back.

Pros
  • Good price
Cons
  • The monitor is too heavy to move.
