The product was sold as new but looks used. It has dents, lots of small scratches and the box looks like it has been sitting for a while, not just a new box that has bounced around during shipping. This is the product I was looking for and it works great but if I wanted a used light I would find and buy a used light and pay a lot less. This lamp is prominently displayed in my living room, so looks are important. BTW there is a big drop of paint which is a manufacturing defect and not related to the product not being new but still an eyesore. Note. I have only posted pictures of the major imperfections but there are many more scratches than shown here.
