A few years ago my wife and I bought a Wave System II for our main living room system in our new house. As a living sound engineer/engineer, I was blown away. I have Alesis surround sound in the lounge and ADAM A7 flat panel recording monitors in my office. Unlike traditional speakers that rely solely on air pressure, the wave system is a whole different beast. At low volume settings, all the subtleties ring out very clearly, like a bell, and you don't have the typical bass roll-off that you have with traditional cone speakers. This is ideal for casual parties. System II and System III are easy on the ears, even when you put them on full blast. The problem with the System II is that it's cumbersome as hell. I liked the sound so much I moved it across the deck, but playing back and forth with this villain sucks (a knob would help, but not that it could make him uglier). I needed something more compact to play on deck and double lullabies for our 2 year old: wow. The System III maintains full frequency response even with whispers (volume set to 9). It also works great on deck (keeps the time setting). The Wave Bluetooth Adapter rocks - it has made my System II CD changer obsolete. I wish I never got it. Come to think of it, I'd like to have two System IIIs.
