A thin high-carbon steel plate with a cork layer on the underside enables a flat grind. However, my old one, which I removed, had a thin steel bar under three bolts that weren't in the new one, causing the face of the thin plate, which was beveled along its entire length, to be flat.
- This is a PORTER-CABLE replacement part.
