These things are nearly impossible to do on your own, but if you prep your nail and use good nail glue, they're worth it. 10+ years due to natural curve. I did it, but after an unsuccessful salon pedicure, it got a lot worse. I've seen them used in YouTube videos as I was sure they could help me. Yes, these are just plastic strips. Glue and limited instructions are not provided, but the process is not overly complicated.1. Remove dead skin/cuticles before application as this will cause lifting.2. Roughen the nail surface with a polishing stick or file to make the glue stick better.3. Be sure to thoroughly clean the nail with isopropyl alcohol immediately prior to application. Bacteria can get under the adhesive and cause infection.4. Put a drop of good quality quick drying nail glue on one side of the strip and apply to one side of the nail. Be sure to hold it with a tool until dry.5. Bend the other side of the strip towards your nail and mark where to trim off the excess. Trim it with scissors or nail clippers.6. Repeat step 4 on the other side of the strip. For me, joining the second site became difficult. You need to apply even pressure or the strip will just bounce off. I ended up applying too much glue and it wouldn't dry. When it was dry I also glued on a cuticle pusher which I used to press it against the strip and my side panel. It was a painful experience, but the strip stayed in place. At first my toes hurt. Now that I've removed the strips I can see small bruises under each side's attachment points. No doubt trying to pry the nail out of the nail bed caused the initial pain. Within a week this pain was gone as was my existing ingrown pain. After two weeks I noticed a hard spot at the edge of the nail growth. At first I thought it was the extra glue I mentioned, but it's actually in there! It was like a thick, curved, jagged edge that I had never seen or felt before. Who knows how long it was stuck in my sidewall and I'm grateful to these strips for helping me remove it! Just follow these instructions and be patient. They really work if you put in the effort.
