Review on X-Acto X7761 Self-Healing Cutting Measuring Tool by Kristen Reid

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great for Xacto cutting, but I'd call it pseudo-self-healing

PROS: Price Excellent cutting support Sharpens blade tip while cutting Useful crosshair and grading for measuring and cutting on the fly CONS: Questionable "self-healing". "Properties, I'd say it's pseudo self-healing. I've used this cutting mat on several pepakura projects since purchase, cutting shapes out of 100lb cardstock. The mat does its intended job well and provides excellent support for meticulous cutting with the Xacto knife The size is ideal for letter sized paper projects, scrapbooking or photos I have found that it even sharpens the tip of the xacto after prolonged use The grid and gradations on the mat are very clear and help you measure and cut in a jiffy.Price is fair and Revain's price seems like a dollar or two less than other retailers.Only negative and the reason it lost the star, is that I doubt his "self-healing" claim.I was expecting the cut surface to be some sort of silicone that would cling back together after cutting ebt, i.e. self-healing. Mat does some of it, but not all of it. There are no gaping cuts on the carpet but it can be seen that cuts have been made as shown in the attached photo. However, this does not affect the functionality of the carpet. Despite everything for this price - a good buy!

Not for use with a rotary.

Makes for imprecise cuts, 'healing' is overstated, smells bad
