Drug Resistant Cat - Problem Solved!

Our new rescue cat needed antibiotics for a chronic sinus infection. Even with many years of experience treating cats with pills, I have not been able to treat them. My husband and I have tried everything including hiding whole or crushed tablets in their favorite foods and asking the pharmacist to make a fish flavored liquid antibiotic. After checking with our vet we decided to see if the infection cleared up on its own in the warmer summer months but it didn't. Our two rescue cats love Inaba chicken and shrimp puree and will meow loudly and wheel around our feet. as soon as they see the tube. But our sick cat still hasn't taken the drug, even in combination with the puree. But my stubborn husband found a solution. He placed 1/4 of the antibiotic pill in the salmon-flavored pill pouch, then generously covered it with Inaba chicken and shrimp puree. The layered approach worked great, so our stubborn cat is now on the mend. She first licks off some of the puree and then swallows the pill pouch whole, unaware of the "terrible" pill inside.
