Have this as a replacement for my 500 watt Theater Solutions T551 unit which had the channels slowly dying and the remote working randomly as needed. The good news is that the connection worked fine. There was a slight hum on the right side of the front, and after changing the plug to a different outlet, the hum was gone. So if you encounter this, just find another outlet, or use a surge protector instead of the outlet itself. I think that due to the fact that there is no ground in the "tail" it will cause an electrical static noise when It is close to many other electrified devices such as your computer, TV, internet box/router, etc. Sounds decent compared to T551 not so loud but close. The remote control does not allow you to adjust the volume for each speaker separately, as was the case with the old device. What it does is move them one bank at a time, in other words, the front speakers up or down together; Rear speakers both up and down, it's impossible to tell, flip the front left up and flip the front right down separately. Center and subwoofer are independent of each other, so their volume can be adjusted separately. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the LED indicators on the front of the subwoofer, but I will say that the subwoofer reproduces the sound slightly better than the old T551 unit, which was "soft", clicking and popping when turned on, but this subwoofer remains quite clear when the volume is cranked up. I like hearing the bass, but not as much as the impact. The LEDs can be turned off by pressing button 15, so it's not a problem if you're not into the circus effect like I am. The volume controls range from -5 to +5 for each speaker bank, i.e. FL FR, RL RR, with an overall volume from 0 to 30. The clarity of the sound isn't bad, but I also use the 7-band EQ that boosts the highs really improved. and minimum values. Ideally I would give the device 3 1/2 stars but I will give it 4 as 3 is a little less than what I think the device is overall worth. If you're on a tight budget and aren't staying in a ballroom, you won't be too disappointed.
