This is my second pair of these shoes - great fit for the same foot width as mine with good arch support - both very stiff specs to suit my feet (10 XX width). However, this second pair also makes the same annoying squeaking as the first pair - with EVERY step. Walking through the mall isn't a problem, but if your boots squeak the loudest in the library, it's a problem. However, I bought a second pair, one with laces and one with velcro, and I still don't think these shoes are bad. I just wish they could be designed in such a way that they don't declare each step.
