Review on Sauder Beginnings 3-Shelf Bookcase: Cinnamon Cherry Finish for Stylish Organization by Daniel Hhneverdie

It's ok for the money

We paid $30 for this bookcase at the time of purchase. It serves the purpose, but of course time will tell. Especially with regard to the stability/strength of shelves. Depending on the number of books and their weight, I'm not sure if they will bend over time. Color was as stated/pictured, very happy with it. The size is perfect for our needs as we didn't want an extra tall shelf. The height is comfortable for sitting next to a desk. Another good thing is the depth of the shelves. I can accommodate a variety of sizes (e.g. school books, binders, etc.). The back is TERRIBLE! That's basically the reason for the three stars and not the four. This is super thin cardboard. In fact, it's more the thickness of the box that you receive your shirt in for Christmas. Thats so bad. The pins (nails) that come with the shelf fixing kit can be a bit longer/thicker to make this thin cardboard stick better. The back curves in the middle on both sides. Luckily we had some extra braces and just clipped them on either side. It's not a big deal, but if the shelves (since they can slide in and out - with the movement of books, another weird thing) end up bumping into the backing, it needs to be securely fastened. Looks good for the money, relatively easy to assemble, but it's pressed cardboard sooooo. take it for what it's worth.
