Review on πŸ”Š Rechargeable & Solar Powered Dual Sub Woofer Wireless Bluetooth Sound System - Rugged Rukus Xtreme+ by James Trapkin

Great idea, terrible execution.

I had a lot of noise a few months ago. Good: I charged it when it arrived, but have left it by the window since. Although I use it several hours a day and occasionally charge my phone with it, I never had to charge it again. Almost every time I checked the battery it said it was fully charged. The solar panel works quite well. Annoying: It beeps when you turn it off and on or when you adjust the volume (including from your phone), and those beeps are loud and annoying. It doesn't turn off automatically when you're done, so you'll have to turn it off yourself, maybe after the kids fall asleep in bed, only to hear a loud beep-beep. playing through is not that loud. It's better than the phone, but I have a hard time hearing the podcast properly when I'm doing something else moderately loud, like listening to music. B. Bringing a pitcher to a boil. This thing can't keep up with my kettle. If you move your phone or device out of range, it won't automatically connect. The easiest way to reconnect is to turn it off and on again and you'll have to listen to silly beeps. The icons on the buttons are drawn very faintly. Two of these wore out after only a few months of use and are now just useless blank buttons (see photo of one of the now blank buttons). Bad: Bluetooth range is shocking. My phone starts to turn off when I move it more than 5 meters from the device. Compare that to some of my Bluetooth headphones that allow me to move around the house completely - this thing doesn't let me get to the other end of the same room. And if you stand between two devices, they'll pass out. And as mentioned, once you've disconnected, you have to turn them off and on again to reconnect, and listen twice for those nice loud beeps - once to turn them off, then again to turn them back on. Using it as a backup battery is pretty flimsy too - it charges the iPhone slowly but hardly leaves a dent in the battery. It can't charge the iPad - the iPad just says "don't charge". Summary - as long as you're not using it to charge and don't stray too far from it and don't pay attention to beeps and don't do anything remotely loud, it's fine. I'm actually quite disappointed as I love the idea of not plugging in a Bluetooth speaker, but the downsides outweigh the need to search for a power outlet.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
