Review on ๐Ÿพ SCRAPE 'N' SCOOP - Cat Litter Scoop: Ultimate Cleaning Solution for Sifting and Scooping Kitty Litter by Stephanie Mann

Great idea but WAY big to be practical.

I have 3 cats and I scoop about 2 pounds of clay litter daily (for over 20 years) so I have a lot of experience with bad scoops that break easily or get too dirty. I'm new to this shovel/scraper hybrid and here are my thoughts: Pros: This shovel is very strong and thick considering it's all plastic so I definitely think it's very well made - much better than most plastic shovels. ! I don't even anticipate the handle breaking, which eventually happens with 9/10 blades, even all metal blades. This is a very strong piece and it doesn't flex at all when I use it. Impressive. And a scraper is a great idea because it means the bucket stays clean and free of mud. Of course, dirt gets on the scraper, but you can easily pinch it off with your fingers using a bag that you throw the trash in. (To keep hands from getting dirty). As such, both the scoop and scraper should stay much cleaner over time. Cons: HOWEVER - the shovel itself is very large (over a foot long) and very awkward to use. If your tray needs to be in a corner or a small space, this shovel most likely won't work for you at all as the scraper will only bang against the walls when you catch lumps. Now it takes me a long time to empty the box because I have to push the ball of garbage into the middle of the box so I have enough room to scoop it out. In other words, you really have to maneuver the shovel. You NEED at least one side of the tray that is not adjacent to a wall. And while the lump is placed so that it can be scooped, it continues to crumble. Another big disadvantage is that the mesh on the scoop is too wide, so smaller lumps (about half a cent) fly out of the scoop and stay in the box indefinitely, making the box a lot messier. It's almost like I need a smaller spoon after the big spoon just to get the little lumps out. Box when I turn it from scraper to scoop, 3) the dirty scraper hits the walls when I try to scoop, 4) it breaks up the clumps, making them dirtier and taking longer to scoop everything out. So I went back to my old shovel (as seen in my photo which has a broken handle). But thanks to this product I bought a separate (better and wider) drywall scraper and now scrape it before shoveling, which keeps my bucket from getting too dirty. This product is a great idea, but it's too big and uncomfortable.
