Big kit for big mistakes

I used the large M12x1.5 kit to repair the gearbox mounting hole on a Porsche 911 while standing on jack stands under the car. Nice set, but be careful. I had to switch to Big Sert after previously screwing up a Time Sert repair on the same hole. In the original repair, the threads began to be cut at an angle to the hole. After that the damage was done and I had to use Big Sert. I highly recommend using some sort of drilling jig to ensure the drilling is perpendicular to the mounting surface as well as the thread. I used a Big Sert tap guide but didn't feel it was strong enough on its own so I machined an aluminum disk on a lathe and pressed the tap guide flush to give a large stable surface. Also, the countersink tool is a bit fragile. because the cutting grooves are very thin; approx. 0.030". I broke 2 grooves on first use and had to use 'alternative methods' for the C hole. See attached photos. Surface and then the screwdriver continued to rotate the bit to hold it in place. In the end use an M12 bolt and lock nut to drive the insert flush and then use it to expand the bottom threads and lock the insert in. Overall the kit did the job and I'm glad it did they are there for this type of specialized repair could be slightly improved.
