Hovering over my face in my cramped home office was effective and with the lightbar on you can see the mist coming out of the top of the machine. It's like the air conditioner on an airplane on a particularly hot day. It's more of a high-tech version of those amusement park spray fans that cool you down as hot water hits you and evaporates, but doesn't get you wet or feel wet. Overall good for warm California days.
