I ordered this as I saw reviews that it (SoDimm 800MHz 2x 4GB) would work with my old 1545. I replaced HD with SSD, Ram from 4GB up to 8GB (and yes it works, even though Dell says 4GB is the max) Computer runs like a charm for $150 SSD + storage, it is hard to beat an upgrade like this. Ubuntu memory report: # lshw -c memory. Removed CPU/cache information. *-Memory Description: System Memory Physical ID: 1000 Slot: Motherboard or Motherboard Size: 8 GB *-Bank: 0 Description: DIMM DDR Synchronous 800 MHz (1.2 ns) Product: 16HTS51264HY-800A1 Manufacturer: Micron Technology Physical ID: 0 Serial number: D233C17F Slot: DIMM_A Size: 4 GB Width: 64 bit Clock: 800 MHz (1.2 ns) *bank: 1 Description: DIMM DDR synchronous 800 MHz (1.2 ns) Product: 16HTS51264HY-800A1 Vendor: Micron Technology Physical ID: 1 Serial number: D233C17F Slot: DIMM_B Size: 4GB Width: 64bit Frequency: 800MHz (1.2ns) I wish it was cheaper, but if you're not buying used memory on e-Bay, it seems this being the par value for new memory (Micron brand, but YMMV).
