These lamps were just what I wanted for late night reading. The color and look matched my decor perfectly, and the size and style were just right. After installing them, I removed the lamps that were taking up space on my bedside tables to give them a neater look. Installation was pretty easy (I mounted it to the wall but plugged it into the nearest outlets. But obviously in an existing house it's not that easy.) All you have to do is drill 4 holes in the wall for the Drill the set of screws used to attach the mounting plate to the wall. I agree with another reviewer who strongly advised against using the included drywall anchors as the anchors look pretty flimsy, although this isn't a problem if you're mounting with studs as the included screws will work for that. Everything was fine until I noticed after installation that each lampshade was hanging a little crooked. The fault lies in the arc tube that comes out of the mounting plate and folds over to the top of the lampshade - on my two the part hanging from this tube does not hang straight down but slightly to the side (both lamps were that too ). I really like the lamps and didn't want to go through the delay and hassle of replacing them without being sure the replacement would be better, so I did my best to adjust the curtains so there was no sign of tilt . If I can't get used to it over time, I can take it off and try bending the metal tubes. Conclusion: Really nice design, looks great but suffers from quality control during production. Of course, like 90% of everything sold today, these lamps are made in China. :-(
