My husband and I are trying to cut down on plastic packaging, so we were excited to hear about laundry strips. I bought this brand based on previous reviews but I'm afraid my experience is not the same as other people's. While these strips are easy to use and appear to clean well, I have found that the detergent does not fully dissolve in my front-load washing machine. The packaging recommends using a medium-duty strip; I did so, but was dismayed to find that the strip had not completely dissolved and leftovers were stuck to several items of laundry. I had to do a rinse and then another rinse with an extra rinse to get rid of the residue. Even then there were still a few small clumps that I had to tear off by hand and rinse off. In the future I plan to use only half the strip on a normal boot to see if that helps solve the problem. Aside from the residue issue, potential buyers should be aware that these strips have a very strong odor. This odor is not unpleasant, but very strong and sticky, lingers on clothes for a long time after washing. If you are sensitive to strong odors, you can use a different product. Overall, I would say that these flicks disappointed me. I love their idea (and the biodegradable packaging is a plus), but I'll probably look for another brand in the future, like EC30, Tru Earth, or Breezeo. I hope I can find a way to use homevatives so they don't go to waste.
