When an unwanted mother moved into our garden with her six babies last summer, we bought two smaller rugs. every hour of sleep on it. Now we raise her internally and I'm finally fed up with these now adult cats pushing each other off the chair he's sitting on so I bought a medium/large. I took it out of the box, put it on a folded fleece blanket which I'm trying to get to use and four of them were on before the tag was cut off! It's the perfect thickness if you have something essential underneath: like other reviewers, I wouldn't use it just as a cage mat, especially for a dog. It crunches a bit, but these cats don't seem to notice or mind - they knead it before snuggling together. This size is very comfortable for six 8 month olds (they still like to sleep curled up) and mom still has her own. Washes well on delicate/cold mode, dries quickly to the point of rolling. We gave one to a friend who raises kittens and we both recommend it as a warm and cozy bed for all our fluffy little ones!
