I've waited a long time to write this review because I wanted to know if it works and how well it works in all conditions. We installed it about six months ago and have made hundreds of downloads since then. We have a front loading washing machine and we use it with a specially designed wash program that uses only cold water but is otherwise similar to a 'regular' machine program.1. cleanliness of clothing. When washed with this product and no detergent, they come out as clean as I've ever seen with a washing machine and detergent combo. Clothes come out clean and odor free. Part of the hype surrounding these machines is that they push ozone into the fabric, making clothes dry faster and feel fluffier, but that doesn't quite apply to us. But they come out clean and dry normally. So it can't improve on the standard method, but certainly can't detract from it. 2. Really without detergent? Yes indeed, without detergent. Of course you can use detergent if you want/have heavily soiled clothes. Nobody will come to your house and stop you. I think. But we haven't used/bought detergent for 6 months and that's probably forever. I did a cost analysis (because I'm a geek) and this unit easily pays for itself in 2 years as you save detergent. Even if it falls apart afterwards, I would replace it entirely because it really saves the environment and money, whichever is important to you. Protects the environment? Tell. Let's start with the detergent bottles. I've always recycled mine and so have you, but you know what's better than recycling what you use up? Don't even use it. No chemicals, dyes or production waste enters the waste stream, no oils or carbon footprints from bottle or soap production and no water footprints from liquid detergents. That eliminates everything. Bonus, if you use a well/septic tank system like we do, this device returns clean water to that system. We released ours on a new line along which we walked to the leech fields. Since there are only organic drains, this is a perfectly acceptable solution. You can spend big bucks on biodegradable soap, or you can just skip it.4. Cold water only? How does it work in winter? Yes, cold water only, and yes, it works in the winter in upstate New York, where we spend most of the winter in freezing temperatures and freezing days in a row. This system still works great under these conditions, even with very cold water flowing through the system. While we do have hot water to heat wash water if needed, we haven't yet and contrary to what Game of Thrones tells you, winter is almost over. Installation Yes, I paid a guy $85 to do this for me. It seemed like someone else should be to blame if the water spurted out everywhere. I could also do that myself, because you only have to connect the rubber hoses to the injectors. So you can save $85 and easily make it yourself, but then it's nobody's fault if the laundry room looks like your kid is reenacting the final scene in Carrie with water. Maintenance Aside from regularly scheduled filter changes (see the Installation and Maintenance Manual), this thing just does the job the way you want it to.7. Rash and irritation My family has very sensitive skin. Every winter we all got four rashes on dry skin. Little red bumps, nasty stuff. We have tried changing soaps, using lotions and oils, removing all perfumes and fragrances etc. We did not purchase this due to our sensitive skin but I can report that any dry skin issues we had over the winter gone and I suspect the lack of detergent in our laundry room has something to do with it. However, it could be confirmation bias or the classic problem of causation versus correlation. Who knows?8. cool factor. It's fun to watch people's heads slowly explode when you explain to them that you wash your clothes with science, not chemicals (I know chemicals are science, John, I know that. Don't be that guy , John, ok. Just be cool) And as a bonus, this device has a blue light that lights up when water flows through the chamber, similar to a Jetson. I mean, he scores huge on the coolness factor.9. Before I bought this system I read endless reviews and articles about this technology and the reality and feasibility of this technology. I'm an avid internet explorer when it comes to products and such. If you are wondering if this is true or advertising or if this is the right device for you, here is what you were looking for. This thing works exactly as they say. It saves you money and the environment, you get cleaner clothes, less skin irritation, seriously, just buy this. This is also the desired model. I've looked at every model available from many sources and this one has the features and components you need. C'mon, blame me if I'm wrong (but I'm not).
