As I said in my first review, using this device is easy and smooth. I just put 2 batteries in the back (item 1) when I turned on the unit. Zero on the screen stabilized in a second (pg 2) and I placed a 5 gram weight on the scale table (pg 3) as instructed in the Calibration section instructions. The device read 5.01 grams. (p.4) Using the same instructions, I calibrated the scale to 5.00 grams. Then place the instrument on the platter's reference disc and gently lower the needle into the hole in the center of the scale circle. For this test I used a red Ortofon 2 cartridge and the recommended clamp weight for this cartridge is around 1.40 to 1.5 grams (page 5). What I actually got after the tonearm was half assembled. The whole test was very easy, but I would recommend including illustrations in the instructions, especially the calibration process. For me, understanding the instructions is not a problem, an engineering degree, but normal users would find it a little easier with pictures. But apart from that everything is all right.
