I don't need another lens with this focal length. I already have Oly 12-100 and 12-40; Both are visually excellent. Well I made the mistake of ordering a third party AF 30 f/1.4 and it turned out to be very bad, most likely a defective specimen. After sending this lens back, I stumbled upon this inexpensive MF lens. I have nothing to lose if this one fails. The lens arrived quickly. The packaging is better than I expected. The lens proved to be well constructed and has some weight. This is not my first 7artisans lens; The first was the 7.5mm FE, which I really like. MF is never an issue with EVF. I tested it on my usual dyno. The sharpness in the center is way better than I can imagine, even wide open. Stopping beyond f/8 has a clearly negative visual effect. The rim is just wide open. I won't be using it wide open for landscape photography. On the other hand, a portrait would probably be more than acceptable. Stopping down to f/8 delivered very good results throughout the frame. These optical performances are much better than I would expect from this very affordable lens. The only thing I really don't like is the bezel. Although the aperture appeared to close (more than 2 stops) between f/1.8 and f/4, the shutter speed hardly changed, meaning the aperture didn't change much. If it were an automatic lens, that would be a big problem. But since it's completely manual, I can handle it. Given the price, I can definitely ignore this downside.
