Had to cut and ruin cable to use car charging port again

I liked how this device works, we bought it to use a medical device in a family member's car and it worked fine connect well and delivers constant charging. What makes me give it two stars is that the part that plugs into the machine has a threaded cap on the end and I had to twist the connector to get a signal that the unit was plugged in and when When I turned, the cover came off and we couldn't get it out of the socket, rendering that socket in the car unusable. I spent months (sometimes almost a year) screwing the cover back onto the charger without destroying the device, but I ended up having to cut the wire and remove the metal parts so I could glue the threaded part to remove the cover, with it we could use this port again. Luckily I succeeded! Today. About a year and a half after purchase. On the one hand we rode cross country and were able to ride the gear we needed which was a life saver. Then again, I only had to disassemble a $40 product to reuse the in-car outlet, and I have to believe there's a product that doesn't. I have chosen this product very carefully based on the power requirements of the connected device to ensure it will not be damaged so this part is ok. Really, it was difficult. And we're a long way from returning/refunding/whatever so I just hope this review is helpful.
