I bought this to sit in my new car as the cup holders were only in the doors and weren't very large making it difficult to get the cup in and out. It is exactly as described. It easily holds my large 32-ounce Tervis mug and when I drove it didn't spill or threaten. I could stick a box of tissues behind the cup holder. I have an adult daughter and a teenager so I think they will be sturdy enough to use on big trips. It confuses me that it doesn't fit in the back of the seat, but it could be the buckle style. I'm going to put a non-slip pot holder underneath as it does slide from side to side a bit when there's no one behind it, but it's really no big deal. I would recommend it to anyone who needs bench seat storage or cup holders, but I wouldn't bet it will last more than 6 months or a year if small children use it.
