Darn Tough or someone seems very interested in how they fit so I'll start with that. I bought the X-Large and they feel a bit tight. I have an average size 13 in width, men's feet with a high instep. The interesting thing about these socks is that if the sock feels tight, they're cold because they don't trap air when the sock is stretched or compressed thin, but not these socks. Not at all, I need a lot of power from my fishing socks when wading cold rivers and spending hours wading through northwestern winters hunting steelhead salmon trout and rest. I've tried all types of socks, pairs of socks, cheap wool socks, expensive wool socks, sport socks, hiking socks, the best so far have been Smartwool hiking socks, but these have been the best FOREVER. You just don't get cold feet. It's pretty amazing. I suspect the fiber blend is such that it has enough structure to hold air no matter what and that's probably why they feel a bit tight. Either way my dogs stay warm but they can breathe so they stay dry and at the end of a long day of fishing I just leave them on. This is the first time! really great product. 6 stars! I've washed them 6-8 times by the way and so far so good. If they last through the season (20-25 days or so) I'll happily buy another stock and may not need it.
