Review on Razer Kraken Gaming Headset: Lightweight Aluminum Frame - Retractable Noise Isolating Microphone - For PC by Vinay Souphaphong ᠌

I should have looked for better, I spent my money on a mediocre product.

I will duplicate the comment from my review of HyperX Cloud Alpha: So the story is this: there are no-name working headphones from the molecula company, which I bought for 700 5 years ago. They have an average sound and the same microphone. And recently I was given a Razer Kraken X. At first glance, everything is pretty good, until a friend and I decided to play. Almost immediately, he noticed: all the sounds from my game were transmitted to him, which was very annoying. After spending the whole evening testing this problem, we found that the sounds are audible even if I turn off the microphone in hardware. This was tested on a discrete asus xonar dx, and on a laptop, and on a phone. I had to take the ears to the store and take something else instead. And these were HyperX Cloud Alpha in which exactly the same problem was discovered. They sound good, but not worth the money, and the positioning on older ears was good. I also passed them, and later I took a sennheiser gsp 300 at a discount in another store and everything was fine there. In connection with this story, I can say the following: all headphones with a combo jack connection will have this problem, and it doesn’t matter that after that there will be an adapter for two jacks. It will save your interlocutor only if there is a usb sound card in the kit or if the headset is connected immediately through two separate jacks. Thanks should be said to the "universality" of modern headsets, which through this combo jack can work both in the phone and in the set-top box. And I don’t understand why this problem was not mentioned in any review. Acoustic echo cancellation in the sound card settings will reduce this effect, but your voice will also become much less qualitative.

Pros
  • - although completely plastic, but assembled well - a good microphone, if not for one BUT - sound for an amateur, but it seems not bad for a gaming headset (it seemed to me that the emphasis was more on high, not bass, as many write)
Cons
  • - in the kit there is a piece of paper with a long code to activate the great and incredible 7.1 (marketers really tried) In fact: the sound of course really becomes voluminous, but in the game I just got lost because of this. Shots and footsteps are heard from all sides and it is difficult to determine how far they are. As a result, everything turns into some kind of cacophony. I liked it more with the usual 2.0. Although the effect may be more pleasant in films - the sounds of the system (games, movies, music, etc.) are transmitted to the interlocutor
