I wouldn't call it a necklace. It looks more like a string of pearls in the form of a necklace. When I ordered it I knew it was for a very young baby's teething and was getting it for my future grandniece, but when I saw it it was much smaller than I imagined and the beads were tiny. I decided to keep it for myself rather than give it to her as it wouldn't fit even a child for long, maybe not long enough to cut her teeth! What can I say, I still like it. It looks like real amber and I enjoy looking at it, feeling it and holding it in my hands. I love pearls --- what can I say? If it were a little smaller it would work like a bracelet and that's what I tried. If I make sure it doesn't slip, it might work for that! So --- get it if you like amber not to wear as a necklace!
