Macbook Air A1237 (Original) Installation

The installation of this product was easy, but I was working with Lion, so the recovery was different than expected. With Lion, Apple removed the remote OS installer app from OS X. After a bit of internet searching, I found that for pre-Lion Macs without an optical drive, you need a flash drive of at least 1GB to help you recover. For Post Lion Mac, you can start the computer by holding CMD-R and do an online restore.1. For my setup I had to get a custom flash drive, no big deal.2. I accessed [.] on my iMAC and below there is an option to download the recovery file to a flash drive.3. Then I put the flash drive in my Air and booted the system while holding down the Option.4 key. I connected Air to my local network and accessed the flash drive.5. When running the restore I was prompted to get the latest backup from my time capsule. The 100GB recovery was surprisingly quick. I started the process at 10pm and the next day at 5am everything was ready. This MB Air is noticeably faster with an SSD than with an HDD. Incredibly faster. The operating system boots quickly and applications open much faster. It's pretty amazing. This is my third hard drive for this computer, hopefully the SSD will be my last.
