Inexpensive, functional (but not fancy) entry-level compass. Good for your little Saturday scout to learn how to navigate, but if you were hoping to keep something backpacking for a few seasons, read in the rain, drop, clean and put back - spend the money . to get something better. And for the price, I don't think anyone has the right to expect this to be an heirloom. But it's a cheap, flimsy compass. It's normal for a novice scout to study orienteering on Saturdays, but I wouldn't trust him for serious work.
