note. This is for the DG40S model as I bought it to use on a Windows 7 PC. My goal was to find a bluetooth USB adapter that would allow my PS4 DualShock 4 to connect without the Connect DS4Windows software to my PC. Also note that the DG40SA sold here is clearly advertised as being incompatible with Windows 7, so I haven't tried it. I'm happy to report that everything is working great! Although, as described here and on the Avantree website, this adapter will NOT properly connect and work when used with Windows 7 (Windows 10 of course), but it's close enough! Getting started is very easy. Just go to their support site, click on the DG40S icon and then look for the link that says "Latest driver for Windows 7". Before you click that, note that there are also plenty of helpful support links here in case you run into any issues. When you're done, click the Windows 7 driver link and you'll see another new list of more helpful links, many of which include videos that walk you through the simple, step-by-step installation process. YOU MUST WATCH A VIDEO OR TWO HERE! I promise it'll only take a few minutes. BUT CHECK BEFORE INSTALLATION! Rschunimagu. It only takes a series of left/right/double clicks, which takes no more than 2 minutes, but since their user interface is so cleverly designed in 1982 programming style, you'll save time by watching the video first. NOTE: ALL PAIRING STEPS DESCRIBED IN THE VIDEO (KEYWORD: ALL TWO OR THREE STEPS) MUST BE PERFORMED WHILE THE DUALSHOCK CONTROLLER IS IN PAIRING MODE! To enable this, press and hold the PS Center button and the Share button AT THE SAME TIME for a few seconds until the DualShock LED starts blinking. This means it will search for Bluetooth devices to pair with. You may need to enter pairing mode again when the lights stop flashing. Either way, before you know it, your DualShock 4 will be connected - and at great range. Works flawlessly after hours of gaming! As it turned out, I needed tech support for something I did wrong (all it took was a reboot of some things I somehow overlooked). I called their support team (which is conveniently displayed on their driver software's main screen after installation) and was almost immediately set up via a live screen-sharing conference for the next level of technical support! They sent me an email link recommending I download a Chrome extension called GoToMeeting Pro Screensharing. Pretty slick/legitimate extension, nice interface. I also had the option to choose specific windows to share my screen or just enable sharing of my entire screen. Anyway, a few people on the phone walked me through a few steps that I kind of got it wrong (follow the steps above and you'll be fine lol). They were very helpful and kind. Pretty amazing customer service, one of the best I've ever experienced from any company, no kidding. If you're using this with Steam, be sure to follow the online guides on how to do it. It's also ridiculously simple: just open Steam, go to Big Picture mode, click the Settings -> Controller Settings button, then make sure "PS4 Configuration Support" is checked. You may need to restart Steam or restart the controller's Bluetooth connection, but yeah, still easy, after all I was only in jerk mode for a few minutes. Hope that helps!
