This camera has a point and shoot function, but also some easy to change manual settings. Auto adjustment is limited at telephoto - when you want long distances to fit the normal picture mode or scene. There is a burst shooting feature to quickly snap a series of photos. After reading the last few reviews I thought that either people don't read the instructions carefully or there is a bad batch of cameras out there. I took this camera to the Galapagos Islands, the Amazon and the Andes for a month. It worked flawlessly underwater, in the jungle and at over 13,000 feet. The stability function is always on and used on boats, horses, moving cars - wonderful night photos of fireworks, jungles, hummingbirds and other fast-moving animals, etc. Put photos and videos on your Windows7 computer and Facebook with the chip - them look great ! during the trip i met about 6 other people with this camera. All but 1 camera worked perfectly. The non-working camera, they said, was flooded underwater, but I couldn't tell for sure if it was human error or a bad camera. I made sure I had 3 batteries and charged them every night or as needed. You must learn to change batteries quickly and as needed. I took 2250 shots. No problem.
