Review on Enhanced SEO: PORTER-CABLE 20V MAX Battery Charger (PCC692L) by Josh Boii

I bought these in September 2017 to quickly top up the batteries with a standard charger for two when renovating my grandma's house. I could get two dozen uses from it, max. After months of not using it, yesterday (July 8th 2018) I used it to charge some batteries and as soon as I plugged it in with no connections I got a fast blinking reading light. Well, according to the instructions and the icon on the front panel, a fast flashing red light indicates a battery failure. Again, this happens when the charger is empty, when there is _nothing_ in the charging socket. When he worked, he did what he had to do. But since it cost over $40 at the time, I think a rejection within a year (after six months of non-use) is unacceptable. Unfortunately, apart from the standard 20V Li-Ion charger, there is no other alternative that I know of.
