Bought a few to keep people honest. That's it, a deterrent. I once lost the keys to one of them, took a Dewalt grinder with a cutting disc and was able to cut through it in 2 minutes. Suppose the thief can do this in the middle of the night, but it will make a lot of noise. I think this combined with other deterrents like a ball lock, a heavy duty chain with a lock on the edges on a post in concrete, is the best deterrent for a thief. Combining multiple deterrents would take too much time, energy, and noise to cut through and the chance of getting caught.
